CityStudioSTL supports a series of community engagement and outreach projects that bring together students in architecture, art, and design with partners in the city of St. Louis. It is generously supported by Gina and Bill Wischmeyer, BA69/MArch71.
CityStudioSTL allows students and faculty—working in collaboration with local community groups and residents—to conceive, plan, design, and ultimately construct publicly minded projects. Learn more about recent projects here>>
Funding Opportunities
Funding is available through CityStudioSTL to support faculty and students working in collaboration with local community groups and residents.
Student Awards are open to full-time undergraduate or graduate students who propose to continue a community collaborative project from a curricular or cocurricular experience. Applications are due at the end of each semester.
Faculty Course Grants are community-engaged teaching grants that provide funding for curricular initiatives involving collaboration with the St. Louis community. Applications are due mid-semester.
Student Fellowships provide funded opportunities for students to work with a local firm to address socially engaged challenges in St. Louis. Participating students will complete a 10-week internship. Applications are due in March.
Community Guests Small Grants provide a small honorarium to compensate community members acting as co-educators in Sam Fox School courses or studios for their time and energy. CGSG funds seek to encourage more equitable engagement with the St. Louis community, and to bring perspectives from community leaders, those with lived experience, and local organizations into the classroom and studio.
Funding is also awarded at the discretion of the Director of the College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design to support engaged work in options studios and design/build projects. Contact Liz Kramer (kramer@wustl.edu) for more information about this funding.
